JOB DESCRIPTION:  

Implement all campus state and local standardized testing and reporting.  Coordinates Section 504 program on the campus to ensure provision of needed services for students with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA, 2008).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of testing criteria for State of Texas

Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness

Knowledge in local, state, and federal requirements of Section 504, Child Find and OCR requirements

Knowledge of instructional accommodations

Self-directed, detail-minded, problem solver

Ability to interpret policy, procedures and data

Excellent organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1.     Direct teachers on the content of state testing standards and provide leadership on how to implement them in the classroom.

 

2.     Implement the District’s local testing program at the campus level including local assessments, CoGAT, ReadiStep, PSAT, and others as necessary.

 

3.     Meet regularly with administrators and teachers to establish future goals and identify specific training needs of personnel.

 

4.     Receive and check the shipment of test materials. 

5.     Ensure that materials are kept in a secure area.

 

  • Organize test materials for campus administration and assemble test materials after test administration according to procedures.
  •  

  • Assign responsibility for completing special program codes, including special education codes, Section 504, and special accommodation codes.
  •  

  • Monitor test administrations on the campus.
  •  

  • Answer questions that might arise during test administration and assist with any test administration issues.
  •  

  • Ensure that answer documents have been gridded correctly.
  • Maintain compliant campus records, reports, and documentation for all students eligible for protection under Section 504 and forwards them to appropriate personnel.
  •  

  • Ensure the implementation of Section 504 procedures at the campus and serves as a daily resource to the building administrators, teachers, and community members.
  •  

  • Coordinate 504 referrals, determines appropriate team composition and ensures that plans move with the student to the next level or new school.
  •  

  • Systematically and continuously monitor instructional processes to ensure that Section 504 program activities are related to program outcomes. 
  •  

  • Recommend improvement in the purpose, design, and implementation of the Section 504 instructional program, as a support program related to the mission of the school.
  •  

  • Provide training for campus in testing administration and in implementation of Section 504 requirements. 
  •  

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, campus administrators and personnel to plan programs that meet the needs and accommodations of students covered by 504 provisions.
  •  

  • Effectively schedule activities and the use of resources needed to accomplish determined goals.
  • Participate in Section 504 Committee meetings as needed.
  • Work with parents, campus personnel, and central office administrators to analyze and solve problematic situations involving students with needs in the earliest stage possible.
  •  

  • Support the school administration regarding discipline issues and procedures for Section 504 eligible students considered for suspension or expulsion, or any removal that constitutes a change in placement. 
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills/knowledge related to job assignment.
  •  

    23.  Provide distance learning or virtual instruction in response to school closure.

    Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:  

    Experience:

    At least five years teaching experience

    Three years in a leadership role preferred
