Analytical Chemistry Intern

Vadnais Heights, MN 

Summer 2021

The Chemist Intern will report to a senior scientist in the Analytical department and will have responsibility for a method development project in separations and analysis of a variety of products. The chemist intern will be supporting global analytical projects for research and development as well as production.

This internship will be 40 hours per week.


This individual will be responsible for supporting a specific project dedicated to enhancing and improving the Global Analytical Laboratory’s capabilities.  The project will include in-depth training for the operation of analytical instrumentation, collaboration on analytical projects, and exposure to adhesive technologies.  In the course of this work, the intern will be involved in a variety of activities which may include:

  • Operation of analytical instrumentation including an ultracentrifuge, infrared spectrometer (IR), Raman microscope, thermal gravimetric analyzer, and/or nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (NMR)
  • Preparing samples for analysis
  • Performing separations on samples and analyzing fractions
  • Developing test methods
  • Analyzing and interpreting analytical data
  • Searching and creating analytical databases
  • Collaborating with researchers around the globe
  • Complying with safe laboratory practices and assisting in the compliance with all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures
  • Supporting analytical lab projects and activities


  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical, chemical biology, biochemistry, polymer science, or chemical engineering
  • Junior or Senior set to graduate December 2021 - May 2023
