Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Assistant Director position is responsible for project, data, and grants and contracts management initiatives at facility and system-wide level. Under the direction of the Chief Value Officer, the Assistant Director will help develop and coordinate programs on value and safety for NYC Health + Hospitals.

The Assistant Director’s responsibilities will include developing project plans and ensuring deliverables are met, tracking timeframes and action steps for various initiatives, and coordinating tasks, including engaging with key facility and central office stakeholders, event planning, and project documentation. They will also be responsible for data retrieval from EPIC, analysis, and dissemination of data dashboards. Furthermore, they will assist in scholarship, including manuscripts and presentations.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate patient safety and high value care projects 

  • Support the development of project materials, such as PowerPoint slides, educational materials for project awareness campaigns
  • Track project performance to assist team with staying on tasks and ensuring completion of short- and long-term goals 

  • Produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout the duration of projects, escalating program risks where applicable
  • Create control charts to track progress of various initiatives
  • Initiate and support scholarship activities, including drafting and submitting research manuscripts, presentations, and abstracts
  • Establish and nurture strong working relationships with central office, facility leadership, and other stakeholders 

  • Provide assistance to the Chief Value Officer and System Patient Safety Officer on other tasks related to departmental activities.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A Masters degree in Arts or Science with a specialization in hospital administration, health care administration, administrative medicine or in public health when conferred for a program in hospital administration, from an approved college or university; or a Baccalaureate degree; and,
2. One (1) year of administrative experience and background; or,
3. An equivalent combination of training, education and experience in related fields and educational disciplines; and,
4. General knowledge of policies and programs utilized in the operation of a health care facility, ability to assimilate and analyze data, to recommend action based on analytical findings, and to assist in the solution of complex problems in health care administration and management.



Department Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree required, healthcare concentration; Master’s degree preferred, such as Master’s Degree in Business administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), or Healthcare Administration (MHA)
  • 2+ years of project or program management experience working within an integrated health system, health plan, patient safety organization, or population health organization 

  • Data proficiency and background in statistical methods
  • Experience with grants and contracts management
  • Proficiency in scholarship activities, including manuscripts and presentations
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 

  • Creative problem solving skills 

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, handle multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines
