Job Description

Under supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, technologist performs complex activity of a higher technical level in the delivery of radiographic services and CT scan procedures. May be responsible for the supervision of assigned radiograpic and ancillary personnel. Performs related work.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs routine procedures on patients whose condition requires specialized expertise.
2. Prepares radiological area, equipment, contrast materials and supplies, as needed for patients.
3. Assists Radiologist, other physicians and allied health care professionals in performing diagnostic or treatment procedures.
4. Performs diagnostic procedures in OR using "C" arm.
5. Prepares patient for procedures.
6. Processes digital images using the Picture Archive and Communications Systems (PACS).
7. Document patients study information on the HDS/ulticare System7. Monitors patient and equipment's condition during procedure and reports changes to appropriate health care professional.
8. Maintains supplies and equipment.
9. Maintains required records.
10. Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g. venograms, myelograms, hysterosalpingograms, cystograms, modified barium swallows, etc.)
11. Assists and guides radiographers in performance of x-ray procedures.
12. Trains, assists radiographers in a wide variety of x-ray procedures.
13. Plans, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the area to ensure the
continuous flow of work.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. State and Federal health safety laws.
2. Recognize basic cross-sectional anatomy and pathology.
3. Proper body mechanics.
4. Set up, adjust and operate CAT scan imaging equipment.
5. Organize and complete work in accordance with daily schedule.
6. Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
7. Reliable, flexible and demonstrate sound judgement and initiative.
8. Possession of a current valid license as a General Radiological Technologist issued by the State of New York.
This license must be presented at the time of investigation to the appointing officer at the time of appointment interview. Appointees must maintain their license in order to retain the position of Associate Radiographer.
9. Two years experienced as a Radiographer



Minimum Qualifications

1. Possession of a current valid license as a General Radiological Technologist issued by the State of New York. 
This license must be presented at the time of investigation to the appointing officer at the time of the appointment interview.  Appointees must maintain their license in order to retain the position of Associate Radiographer; and,
2. Two years experience as a Radiographer.
