Job Description


The primary purpose of this position is to analyze data to provide insights that help Category Management decisions by reviewing inventory volumes, sales and margin, pricing, and vendor income. These analytics are to provide insight for the category teams and VP level executives that will help drive profitable sales and margin. The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  •  Perform ad hoc analysis as requested by supervisor, Category Vice President, or Senior Management to aid management in making fact-based decisions that yield superior financial results
  • Analyze price survey, margin, and movement data based upon the Rite Aid (RA) and category pricing strategy and rules, maximizing competitive and margin achievement while minimizing markdown and operational impact to determine the appropriate price for each assigned item in each assigned product category for each RA defined market (price zone) according to its unique strategy directive
  •  Assist in the quantification of the impact of retail pricing strategies that optimize billing margins and item profitability
  •  Analyze vendor income activity to determine impact of purchases, promotional funding, placement funding, and other income against the company plan
  •  Determine product inventory levels in stores and distribution centers to meet sales needs based on analysis of past sales and minimum presentation levels
  •  Assist in the management of inventory including identification and resolution of slow moving items, out of stock issues, and replenishment problems in order to increase sales
  •  Analyze and implement requests from Store Operations and Category Management to adjust Store replenishment, Seasonal distributions and Ad Billing, in order to create profitable sales and minimize out of stocks
  •  Analyze end-of-season results by comparing inventory levels to sell-through by store, provide reporting on effectiveness of product
  •  Analyze item sales and profitability to ensure the plan-o-gram mix is optimized to deliver against the company’s financial goals
  •  Analyze promotional activity to determine optimal promotional offers that both drive sales and deliver strong margins
  •  Identify and implement alternative methods to improve ad hoc analysis and streamline routine reporting to increase department productivity


  • 2 years of experience in Retail or Category Management required
  • Or equivalent education in lieu of experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Statistics or other business related fields required
