Project Description:

The communications intern produces internal employee communications for the IT Department. Deliverables include social media, intranet site content, news articles, e-newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and other copy for technical audiences published on multiple channels. Direct responsibilities include researching, writing, editing, revising, reviewing, and publishing final material. This full-time summer position requires some self-directed project management as well as a variety of technical and office administrative duties under general supervision.

The intern will:


  • Research, write, revise, and publish internal IT content

    • Collaborates with other functional personnel for content development

    • Collaborate with designers and other personnel to develop graphics

    • Publish completed work via the appropriate channels



  • Social Media, SEO, and Digital Analytics

    • Contribute to content development and execution of IT’s internal social media initiative; participate in planning the summer/fall editorial calendar, make posts, and track the summer’s social media campaigns

    • Research the latest search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and assist in implementing SEO improvement efforts across platforms

    • Review and analyze key performance indicator (KPI) metrics across platforms, prepare internal reports, and make recommendations based on analytics



  • Digital content management administration and HTML programming

    • Audit contact e-mails and user lists; test and update content

    • Edit HTML code

    • Provide support in the second phase implementation of the company’s digital workspace

    • Optimize search



  • Other duties as assigned

• Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.

• Job shadowing in other functional areas.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree or have graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university within the last year.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A
Additional Requirements:
- Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
