WSP is currently initiating a search for an Engineering Intern for our Wethersfield, CT construction field office for the I-91 Widening project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Office/ Field Engineer is responsible for ensuring daily contract compliance to project plans and specifications on construction projects and maintaining documentation to support quality specifications, payment and project acceptance.
  • Read, understand, and interpret project plans and contract documents. Identify possible problems in contract documents and propose solutions or refer them to the Resident Engineer or Chief Inspector as appropriate.
  • Coordinates communication and exchange of information between the Resident Engineer, engineering team, client representatives, contractors and subcontractors. Coordinate all internal and external communication relative to the project.
  • Assists in the review of the contractor’s project schedule, recommend partial payments to the contractor and verify the contractor's use of material.
  • Works closely with project staff and Resident Engineer to prepare reports detailing project costs, progress, risks and opportunities for review.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current standing as a rising Junior or Senior an accredited Civil Engineering Undergraduate program or an Undergraduate Construction Management program.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, math, analytical and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • This role is subject to a FRA mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
  • Prior Construction Administration experience.
