Job Description
The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services has an excellent opportunity for a Developmental Disabilities Specialist. The incumbent will assist the Division of Developmental Disabilities with activities associated with Virginia's Statewide Transition Plan and transition to full compliance with the CMS mandated Home and Community Based Services settings rule. This position will review and monitor reports and self-assessments related to the project and support division program operations, regulatory reporting requirements, program quality management/improvement program(s), and program(s) evaluation. Performs analysis for other division programs as needed and directed. Responsible for accessing, reviewing and assessing provider self-assessments and evidentiary packages for compliance with the HCBS settings rule. Supports the management of the provider self-assessment database in REDCap, runs reports, completes analysis and summarizes information. Monitors provider remediation and corrective actions for compliance with the HCBS rules. Reviews and makes HCBS compliance determinations for new providers prior to enrolling with Medicaid. Summarizes assessment information and provides technical assistance to providers as it relates to compliance. Collaborates on Statewide Transition Plan activities, as needed.  
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires the ability to understand and utilize data collection systems in order to perform reviews for the project.  
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the Home and Community Based Services settings rule, person centered planning practices and principles and the Developmental Disability Waivers services and supports strongly preferred.  
Special Requirements
This hourly position is limited to 29 hours per week/ 1500 hours per year.
