The Disability Claims Specialist serves as an expert in all aspects of claim management and provides the highest level of technical support for the LTD claims team.  You will be required to demonstrate an intimate understanding of all aspects of LTD claim management and adjudication as well as track office measurements to ensure goals are met.  Assisting in the development and coordination of training for the team (compliance, legal, medical, risk management systems, etc) is also essential.  In this role, you will be expected to work with the team to address challenges related to contract interpretation, procedures, complex claim assistance and or direction.  This position is located in Portland, ME.









Qualifications

   

 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Long Term disability claim management

  • Prior experience coaching staff to enable excellence in customer service and claims management while demonstrating role model behaviors is required

  • Demonstrated conceptual thinking, risk management, and ability to handle complex claim situations effectively

  • Expert level technical knowledge in contract interpretation and administration

  • Superior communication, organization, risk management and time management skills required

  • Excellent customer service skills proven through internal and external customer interactions 

  • Capability to partner with various areas of the Group Insurance business

  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements and to organize and analyze information to ensure objectives are met
