|
Responsible for locating, developing, implementing and coordinating student internship programs for assigned schools. The position will support students, parents, school administration, and business and community groups. |

Essential Duties & Responsibilities |

|
1. Provides direction in planning and developing career goals with students and parents. 2. Collaborates with business mentors to cultivate new internship sites. 3. Guides students for internship opportunities, including locating internships when needed. 4. Develops individual internship success plans for students. 5. Visits internship work sites to ensure a safe working environment, a committed mentor, and the rigor and relevance of the internship. 6. Actively participates in parent/mentor information presentations. 7. Communicates bi-weekly with students, parents and business mentors regarding student progress, needs, etc. 8. Supports internship mentors, students and parents by maintaining student hours, comments and concerns weekly through the AACPS internship portal. 9. Collaborates with teachers to prepare students for a successful internship, including readying students to actively use the AACPS Internship Portal. 10. Distributes and collects all necessary internship documents, i.e. quarterly evaluations, student/parent/mentor agreements, MSDE survey and other related internship activities. 11. Prepares and submits monthly summary reports from internship portal. 12. Monitors the Registered Sex Offender website and takes appropriate action as needed. 13. Plans and implements employer and student recognition activities. 14. Attends monthly internship coordinator professional development activities. 15. Serves as a liaison with Advanced Studies and Business Education offices as needed. 16. Communicates student progress and concerns on a monthly basis to school administrators, school counselors, and other associated partners as needed. 17. Performs other duties as assigned. |

Minimum Qualifications |

Education |
|||
· Hold or eligible for Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) professional certificate. · Holds MSDE Work Based Learning Coordinator endorsement or obtains such endorsement within first one (1) year of employment/appointment. |
|||
|
|||
Experience |
|||
· Three years successful classroom teaching experience. |
|||
|
|||
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
|||
· Demonstrated ability in working with public school personnel and business community members. · Proficiency with software programs, i.e. Internship web portals. · Knowledge of current trends and research in the field on internships and careers. · Ability to work collaboratively in the design, implementation and evaluation of a student based programs. · Excellent written and presentation skills required. · Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement in student learning. · Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles, levels of skill and experience to support their child’s education experience. · Demonstrated ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners. · Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred). |

Licenses/Certifications |
|||
· Possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and have daily access to a car. |
