Job Description

Directs, and manages daily operations for Inpatient Pharmacy Operations including the Main Pharmacy and all Satellite Pharmacies, for the department and oversees the Sterile Product preparation programs including the IV additive program and the infusion/oncology preparation. Maintains these areas of responsibility with
the framework of Pharmacy regulations and standards, including but not limited to Federal, State and localregulation, HHC & Bellevue Policy & Procedure and standards of the Joint Commission, CMS, USP 797, NIOSH and others and bases performance on the most current standards of the profession.



Job Description

1. Maintains appropriate cost-effective use of medications at Bellevue Hospital Center and assists the Director in the preparation of the annual budget

2. Directs the operations for all inpatient and Intravenous preparations for the Hospital center

3. Responsible for the performance of staff assigned to Inpatient and IV operations and regularly provides feedback to staff assigned as to their performance.

4. Reviews all standards and regulations for the areas of responsibility and updates these areas to ensure compliance.

5. Works with staff and others in the management team to provide ideas to constantly improve services using Breakthrough and other methods.

6. Conducts monthly staff meetings and provides minutes for same.

7. Updates departmental Policy & Procedures as required.

8. Assists with annual inventory process and serves as a back up to approve purchase orders.

9. Responsible for the distribution of medication throughout the Hospital Center.

10. Oversees and directs all sterile product activities on all shifts

11. Performs all assigned annual reviews

12. Participates in Department performance improvement activities & initiatives.

13. Prepares and manages project plans for improvements and updates in all areas of responsibility or as assigned by Director.

14. Attends meetings and participates on committees as requested by the Director



Minimum Qualifications

1. Maintain current New York State pharmacy license and registration.

2. Advanced degree in Pharmacy .

3. Annual In-services Training , Competency Evaluation.
