SHSO-1908286    Investigator - Patient Experience


The role will focus on improving our understanding of the patient and caregiver perspective – needs, values, preferences and expectations – in order to translate that knowledge into a series of technology-enabled solutions that transform the patient experience. The Investigator, Patient Experience will perform duties as described in the position description to elicit and subsequently infuse the patient’s perspective into the discovery, prototype design, pilot and evaluation phases of each program and activity RD&D undertakes. This role will ensure that health literacy principles and practices (user-centered design, universal precautions approach, tailored communication and organizational change) are incorporated into new solutions, technologies and care models designed to maximize patient engagement, improve patient outcomes, and reduce health system complexity.



The Investigator position is intended for doctorate level individuals interested in scientific contributions to R&D. Investigators will include individuals across a spectrum of academic and technical disciplines, including but not limited to: epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, informatics, behavioral medicine, and health economics. The primary role of the Investigator is as a Principal or Co-Investigator on research and development projects, including the traditional requirements of proposal development and funding, study design, data analysis and interpretation, human subjects protection, scientific oversight and manuscript preparation. Investigators will pursue external funding from NIH, industry and other sources and will participate in collaborative research and product development efforts throughout Sutter Health.



MD/PhD or equivalent combination of education and experience is required to perform this role



Demonstrated competence in written, oral and electronic communication skills (interpersonal communication and technological effectiveness competencies)
Demonstrated ability to independently manage scientific aspects of research projects
Demonstrated ability to provide discipline-specific scientific expertise to research projects
Excellent analytic, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Demonstrated ability to design
