Office of English Language Learners

Position: LOOK Act: Media Specialist Intern

Pay: $20/Hour

Position Duration: 2020-2021 Academic year (position ends June 30, 2021)

Location:  Central Office/Office of English Learners


The Office of English Learners seeks a dedicated & talented intern to support the LOOK Act implementation process. The primary task, under the supervision of the Parent Outreach manager, is to support the content and media creation for the Office of English Learners Youtube and Facebook pages. This position is a great opportunity for a graduate student, seeking in-depth experience in marketing, online content management, social media production, and community outreach. 


Skills required: knowledge of Youtube/Facebook platforms, project management, background knowledge, or willingness to learn about the needs of English Learners.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally  
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work. 
  • General multitasking skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube,
  • Pinterest and Google+
  • Experience with social media analytics, including Google Analytics and
  • Facebook Insights
  • Prior experience working with students, especially  working with EL students and bi-lingual students
  • Excellent organizational, writing skills, and computer skills.  



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs, experience using databases
  • Familiar with Zoom and Google Hangouts platforms
  • Experience with social media analytics, including Google Analytics and Facebook Insights
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Bilingualism is one of our 9 major languages (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cabo Verdean Creole, Vietnamese, Chinese, Somali, Arabic, French, Portuguese) 


*Candidates selected for this position will be paid at a rate of $20/hour for up to 20 hours per week. The maximum amount the employee will receive is $10,000
