Job Description


As a Licensed Provider for the Department of Veterans Affairs, you will practice independently in the provision of psychological services, engage in professional and scientific work which relates to behavior, capacities, personality, interests, emotions and mental disorders.consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate.

This announcement is for soliciting Psychologist trainee candidates to establish an applicant pool for referral to fill Psychologist vacancies within the Mental Health and Behavior Science service line with the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. Applications will be reviewed and referred at the request of management throughout the year as needed. As a Licensed Provider for the Department of Veterans Affairs, you will practice independently in the provision of psychological services, engage in professional and scientific work which relates to behavior, capacities, personality, interests, emotions and mental disorders. consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate. Major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders
  • Provide are individual, family, and group psychotherapies and other interventions such as behavioral health and community interventions
  • Consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation, teaching, training, and research activities

This position is eligible to apply for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. If selected for this position, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.


Work Schedule:

8:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. May be required to be available off tours to include nights, weekends, and holidays to meet patient care requirements
