Description:

Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with community, business groups, government agencies and KP facility leadership. Provides PA support to KP facilities, including communications and event planning. Builds key partnerships in the communities that support KP's community benefit, community relations and marketing objectives. Sets own daily priorities to meet goals and objectives developed under the direction of the Public Affairs Director. Enhances KPs image in the community by developing and promoting program and region-wide community relations, community benefit, government relation programs, which demonstrate the organization's commitment to its social mission. This is the second job in a three level Public Affairs generalist ladder. At this level, the representative contributes to projects of complex and diverse scope that require in-depth analysis. Representative manages projects within defined parameters and exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies.

Essential Functions:
- Represents KP in the communities we serve and represents Public Affairs in the facilities. Analyzes, interprets and develops solutions for complex internal and external issues and projects in support of KP's PA and organizational objectives. .
- Provides communication support for key projects, activities and issues for facilities as needed. Supports the implementation of communications initiatives, strategies and tactics to promote KP organizational messages to key internal and external audiences. Develops work plans, produces deliverables and coordinates with other stakeholders. Develops collateral materials and implements programs specific to issues and projects.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community groups, business groups, schools and local government officials/staffs including city, county and district offices. Identifies opportunities for new partnerships and programs with internal and external groups. Facilitates active participation among KP staff and physicians in community volunteer opportunities for KP- sponsored events
- Assists in supporting community benefit programs. Coordinates and oversees events including VIP visits, health fairs, community events, job shadowing, internal campaigns and initiatives.
- Supports the implementation of philanthropic strategies to improve community health as well as growth and initiatives for member retention.

Secondary Functions:

-Coordination of internal department communication and project requests.  

-Will also provide administrative support to Public Affairs Director and Team.  

-Has demonstrated relationship facilitation capacity with external partnerships.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in community relations, community health, communications and/or public relations.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in public health, public relations/communications or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A
Additional Requirements:
- Significant understanding of the health care environment and local government policy issues.
- Established ties to the communities KP serves.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent project management, organization and consulting skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred.
