Research Asst I 


Collect, document, and manage pertinent data including animal observations, test material administration, performs basic necropsy, developmental toxicology post-life procedures, and clinical sample collection; in compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.  Coordinate activities involved in toxicology studies.   Perform technical procedures in various areas.  Monitor animal health and welfare in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and help maintain facilities for AAALAC compliance. Duites include but not limited to;



Serves as Lead Technician for all types of DART studies


Assess and document clinical observations, body weight data, food consumption data, environmental data, estrous evaluations, pregnancy status, behavioral assessments and other data on the appropriate data collection system (or by hand when necessary).


Requires reviewing  study protocols and protocol amendments, understand and interpret a complex protocol.


Performs advanced dosing and clinical sampling techniques, and sample processing, performs study management and data organization


Performs internal and external client communication.


Identifies and take appropriate action with problems, potential problems with protocols, SOPs, and schedules.  Assist in the development of new procedures and write SOPs


Participate in client visits, debriefings, and study initiations.


Reports all animal care concerns and becomes involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary


Writes QA audit responses and quality check procedures


Ensure that a study is conducted according to protocol, SOPs, IACUC and government regulations, maintains well documented laboratory records according to GLPs.




  • Bachelor degree in Life Sciences, Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology, or Associate degree in Veterinary Technology with a minimum of twelve months experience at the level equivalent to a Research Assistant I.  Experience may be substituted for education requirements.
  • AALAS certification at Laboratory Animal Technologist level desirable.

Must be able to work in laboratory setting with laboratory animals
