The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages one of the largest and most diverse state parks systems in the nation and protects and enhances natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities throughout Massachusetts. DCR is one of the largest park systems in the nation. The DCR system includes over 450,000 acres of parks, forests, water supply protection lands, beaches, lakes, ponds, playgrounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, trails and parkways and more.

 

The Department .of Conservation and Recreation seeks qualified applicants for the position of: Seasonal Recreation Facilities Supervisor II – Assistant Pool Manager.

 

The incumbent operates and maintains recreation facilities; schedules and monitors events; inspects buildings and equipment; performs routine maintenance; operates equipment; ensures the proper upkeep of facilities; enforces safety rules; and administers first aid.

 

Recreation Facilities Supervisor II must possess, or obtain through DCR for hire, a current and valid Practical Pool Management (PPM+) certification in order to work in this position.

 

DUTIES:

 

In the absence of the Recreation Facilities Supervisor III, the Recreation Facility Supervisor II operates and maintains recreation facilities such as swimming pools, wading pools and spray decks.

 

The Recreation Facilities Supervisor II is responsible for supervision of the lifeguarding staff and other staff assigned to his/her pool including Laborers, Facility Service Workers and Summer Workers.

 

Work schedules of a Recreation Facilities Supervisor II may consist of working four (4) ten hour shifts in order to meet the public swimming hours several days a week, unless otherwise directed

 

Monitors and patrols facility while open to public to prevent theft and vandalism and to enforce rules and regulations.

 

Inspects buildings and equipment; performs routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.

 

Operates equipment such as swimming pool vacuums, lawn mowers, hand and power tools and other equipment/tools as needed to perform duties and responsibilities.

 

Ensures the proper upkeep and cleanliness of facilities, including the cleaning of showers and restrooms, trash removal and grounds maintenance.

 

Enforces safety rules and regulations and maintains routine records.


 

Qualifications

 
This requisition will remain open until filled; however, first consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

 

Minimum Entrance Requirements: None. 

 

Special Requirements: 

I. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross 

 

II. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Standard First Aid and Personal Safety Certificate issued by the American Red Cross.
