Security Officer - Security HUP
Enforces Hospital regulations, provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees by enforcing Hospital regulations and by continuously watching for and timely reporting of potential safety hazards and unusual occurrences through patrol of assigned areas. Investigates complaints or potential criminal conduct; assists in restraining patients as necessary; provides protective services. Possesses and exhibits extraordinarily strong customer service skills.

The qualified candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent or an associate/bachelor degree and have 2+ years previous experience in the security, military or law enforcement field. Pennsylvania Act 235 certification required prior to employment or within six (6) months of hire as a condition of employment. PA driver's license or valid license from the state in which the employee resides is required. IAHSS basic certification preferred.

Candidates must be fluent in reading, writing and speaking English. Proficient in computer skills and must be able to present and write accurate factual records and reports for initial investigations and visual sightings of hazards, accidents and infractions of rules of conduct by employees and others. Must be physically able to lift, push/pull, carry 50+ lbs. Must be able to perform duties when under severe physical strain, i.e., when confronting, apprehending or restraining individuals. This position requires occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing for 11%-34%. Frequent standing, sitting, and walking for 34%-66%. Must have good visual and hearing acuity, no visual/hearing disorders and no physical disorder that may cause fainting.
