Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (PGH) is a 123-bed, gero-psychiatric hospital, operated by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, located in Burkeville, Virginia is seeking a Part-Time (Hourly) Security Office III to ensure the safety and security of patients, employees and visitors while on the premises through Law Enforcement, Fire Protection and Life Safety Code enforcement. This position will patrol PGH hospital property, building and grounds, on foot or in a vehicle to enforce rules and regulations, prevent crimes and assist patients, employees and visitors; key control on assigned shift; observes while patrolling for any activities or conditions that pose a threat to life or property; monitor parking, traffic and other related motor vehicle activities; operates police communications equipment and ensures immediate accessibility by use of two-way radio at all times; conduct safety zone inspection as required; conducts and/or participates in fire, disaster, evacuation drills, ect./ reports and/or takes action to correct hazardous conditions that have the potential to develop into emergency situations and which could pose a threat to residents, staff and the public.
~ Valid Virginia driver's license. ~ Graduation from High School or Equivalent. ~ Working knowledge of safety and security practices. ~ Working skill in the use of police communications systems and equipment, and in the use of security vehicles. ~ Experience in law enforcement, security, security and/or work in a position with related experience. ~ Ability to work various shifts on an on-going basis required.
~ Police Academy Certificate and Certified Police Officer Certificate from State is preferred.
