Intern, PAHO Investigations Office, Washington, D.C.

Summary of Job Description:

  • Conduct research and fact-checking work on issues related to administrative investigations techniques, corporate codes of conduct and international tribunal judgments.
  • Assist with design and development on publicity materials.
  • Assist with design of templates for routine work flow.
  • Assist with design and development of webpage content.
  • Contribute to Investigations Office outreach activities and awareness-raising materials, e.g. online articles, pamphlets, booklets, etc.
  • Produce other reports as requested by the Investigations Office.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Research summaries related to administrative investigations best practices;
  • PowerPoint presentations for use in awareness-raising sessions;
  • Infographics and animations for use in awareness-raising sessions;
  • Templates for use in routine Investigations Office work flows
  • Inputs to Investigations Office outreach activities and awareness-raising materials;
  • Inputs to other Investigations Office reports, as requested.

Qualifications:

  • At least twenty years of age at date of application.
  • Enrolled in a master's program or in the final year of a bachelor's program; or have graduated within the last six months from a bachelor's or master's program.
  • Interest in international administrative investigations work, international relations, international political economy, media communications, sociology or criminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese desirable.
  • Experience in creating infographics and animations highly desirable.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Conscientious team player with a pleasant disposition.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or
  • Have a valid visa with an Employment Authorization from USCIS, or
  • PAHO will sponsor a G-4 visa.

Term:

  • Minimum of three months, with possible extension of three months on a part-time or full-time basis, to begin in mid-June 2019.
