THIS IS A LONG TERM SUB POSITION that is expected to start immediately and go through the end of the school year.

Boston International High School seeks an exceptional Vocational Teacher - CH 74 MEDICAL ASSISTING INSTRUCTOR who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. REPORTS TO:  Principal/Headmaster

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

TEACH [DETAIL]:

 

The Medical Assisting Teacher will be comfortable using classroom and lab instruction to support students to gain proficiency in the MA CTE Medical Assisting Vocational Frameworks including safety and all industry-related standards.   The Program will incorporate interdisciplinary and project-based learning and must have a Community Based/Clinical work based learning component.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creatively provide an interdisciplinary course of study that incorporates state curricular frameworks
  • Deliver content through discrete instruction, demonstration, practice, and projects
  • Instruct students in safety and all industry related curriculum materials
  • Instruct students in all aspects of the industry   
  • Maintain records as required by the school, district, or state
  • Build and maintain partnerships that assist in getting students into authentic learning experiences
  • Participate in team meetings /curriculum development/and professional development activities that support student achievement and program and school functioning
  • Share in administrative duties as determined by the Headmaster or designee
  • Perform other related duties as requested by Headmaster

    QUALIFICATIONS__REQUIRED:

  • Education:  Hold an Bachelors degree or higher degree related to the subject matter.
  • Must posses a current national certification as a medical assistant or medical assistant/secretary
  • Must have an Associate’s Degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught
  • Must have a minimum of four years of recent (within the last seven years), full-time employment experience directly related to medical assisting
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment 
  •  

    QUALIFICATIONS__PREFERRED:

  • Must possess a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Vocational Teachers license in the Medical Assisting or have all of the qualifications to be eligible for licensure which includes a passing score on a performance and written exam in Medical Assisting Teaching
  • Prior teaching experience with adults or youth
  • CPR/ First Aid Instructor status and familiar with industry certifying options
  • Bilingual
  • Familiar with electronic medical records, infection control, EKG, basic lab skills, etc
  • Familiar with healthcare professionalism and communication
  • OSHA 10 certification or willingness to be certified
  •
