Job Description



POSITION OBJECTIVE :  Incumbents supervise the operations and personnel of the warehouse. Administers disposal, inventory control, and textbook depository programs.  This job reports to the Director of Purchasing.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

1.  Supervises employees to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations;                   ensuring staff are trained; and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.

2.  Supervises warehouse functions. Receives deliveries from vendors, shipping companies, and/or the postal               service, ensuring proper products, quantities, and quality. Identifies, marks, and tags fixed assets with                   bar codes. Resolves issues with vendors related to shipping, receiving, and/or quality. Inputs related                       information into the computer.

3.  Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required                           items and completing jobs efficiently.

4.  Manages warehouse for the purpose of providing required materials and services and providing a clean,                 organized layout and safe work environment.

5.  Prepares weekly delivery schedules; reviews deliveries to ensure accuracy; distributes schedules to                         drivers. Coordinates the delivery and pick up of testing and/or related confidential materials at school                     sites.

6.  Operates a variety of equipment to include trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, sweepers, postage meters,                       and/or audiovisual equipment.

7.  Prepares a variety of reports related to vehicles, equipment, inventory, and other related items.

8.  Prepares billings for letterhead, envelopes, various forms, and/or small printing requests.

9.  Administers the process for picking up and/or appropriately disposing of unwanted or damaged property.                 Coordinates the pick-up equipment by vendors for repair and/or servicing. Supervises and administers                   transfer programs related to storage and repair of obsolete items or the process of taking items to auction.

10.Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : (positions in this class typically require):

Associate’s Degree in logistics, business administration or related field and five years of progressively responsible warehousing experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements:

  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

·         Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general                public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.



Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.


Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.


Incumbents may be subjected to poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, and travel.
